We are the recall product lawyers.
EGL Motor has recalled Youth All-Terrain Vehicles, as alerted by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on January 12, 2022. The ATVs create an increased risk of a crash because children are able to operate the ATVs in excess of the maximum allowed speed, which can result in serious injuries. Also, the handlebars create a safety issue because of a laceration hazard in the event that a child’s head or body hits the handlebars while traveling at a high rate of speed. Furthermore, the ATVs may still move even when the parking brake is being used. The Youth All-Terrain Vehicles do not comply with the federal mandatory ATV safety standards.
Description of the recalled Youth All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs):
- EGL and ACE Youth ATVs
- Model numbers MADIX 125 and D110
- Sold as Age 12 plus or Age 16 plus
- The model number is set contained in the rear body, on the left side on a metal plate.
Consumers are warned not to use the recalled ATVs. Consumers are also advised to contact EGL Motor for a repair.
Sale of the ATVs
The ATVs were sold at various locations, including Triple J Import, AWL Distribution, D & M Motorsport and other dealerships for $650 to $850. The ATVs were sold between July 2020 and March 2021.
The CPSC and EGL Motor, Inc., advised consumers, in June 2021, not to allow children to use ACE D110 youth ATVs given the potential for serious injury or death. Thereafter, in January 2022, the ATVs were recalled.
